The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) are responsible for anti-doping, including testing and results management, at their respective Games.

WADA assumes a number of roles in the lead-up to, and during, the Olympic and Paralympic Games. These include:
- Pre-Games testing
- Potential review of Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs)
- Right to appeal decisions
- Independent Observer (IO) Missions
- Athlete Outreach
WADA has published a special issue of its flagship magazine, Play True, outlining these roles and presenting members of the IO and Athlete Outreach Teams in Vancouver.
Along with regular features, such as editorials from WADA's President John Fahey and Director General David Howman, Play True also contains contributions from the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) on their commitment to anti-doping, as well as a profile of the WADA accredited anti-doping laboratory responsible for analyzing doping control samples collected as part of the Games.
